Bidders sing the praises of Chicago's Lyric Opera

The Lyric Opera of Chicago's benefit gala was able to raise $380,000 with the auction of wine and other products. The Opera's 'Twist and Shout' gala, which is a fundraiser for Lyric's programs, has been called the biggest activity to date, according to auction chairman Nancy Searle.

Increase in bids pushes Winefest over $500,000

The 6th annual Florida Winefest and Auction, held in Apr 1996, netted $501,641 for 21 charities. The four-day event was attended by about 5,000 people, and a luxury tour of Iberia sold for $100,000. Wines auctioned are also discussed.
