Independence declares growth lies ahead with right game plan
Article Abstract:
Philadelphia, PA-based Independence Brewing Co. is anticipating further growth of the brewer in the future through implementation of a right game plan in an evolving market. The strategy is to focus on brand sales to supplement the product with a number of clever acquisitions of established brands within the mid-Atlantic markets. Independence is launching the products Betsy Ross Kristall Wheat, Uncle E$B and Thomas' Blond Bock in fall 1998 as part of its strategy. An expansion is also being undertaken by the company to increase its capacity by over threefold from 13,000 to 40,000 barrels through the procurement of several closed brewers.

Give him four barrels and 50 miles, and Hoffman will reach for a Climax
Article Abstract:
Climax Brewing Company of Roselle Park, NJ, is a new small homebrewery firm founded by its president David Hoffman in early 1996 in a four-barrel brewhouse. The firm can always grow despite its present size, rationalized Hoffman. Climax has a present capacity of 1,000 barrels per year based on five beer brews. These recipes produce the English-style extra special bitter, a nut brown ale, a cream ale, an IPA, and a porter. Hoffman developed customized packaging to help his unique products stand out in retail stores.
