Millennium fever hits U.S. and London auctions
Article Abstract:
Zachys-Christie's in New York sold 100% of its lots in a wine auction on Feb 5th. Auction houses in San Francisco and London also saw success as buyers planned for new year's eve celebrations at the end of this year. A bottle of Yquem 1900 sold for $4,510, largely because of the novelty of it turning 100 years old at the end of 1999. Other notable sales included 3 magnums of Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia for $6,900, and a bottle of Lafite Rothschild 1799 for $27,060.
