Wine Spectator readers determined their favorite type of food, vacation destination, city for restaurants, wines and wine industry personalities in a poll. Ernest Gallo was selected for his contributions to quality of wine, while the Mouton-Rothschild 1945 was selected as the wine most would like to drink. The important wineries of the US, Australia, New Zealand, France, Italy, Spain, Chile and Argentina were also noted.

Canoe ridge materializes in Walla Walla with Chardonnay, will soon release a Merlot
Article Abstract:
Canoe Ridge Vineyard, located in Washington, is a joint venture among several investors led by California's Chalone Wine Group which has produced its first bottled wine in May 1995. It will specialize in wines made from the Chardonnay and Merlot grapes.

Issues are presented concerning the results of a public opinion poll into the popularity of Chardonnay wine with wine enthusiasts. Over 40% responded that they enjoyed drinking the wine and Californian Chardonnay was most popular.
