Gruaud-Larose sold for $70 million

St-Julien second-growth wine estate Gruaud-Larose was purchased by wine company Groupe Taillan. The quality of Gruaud-Larose wines has been spotty over the years, but the winery has shown the ability to produce outstanding wines. The new owners will focus on quality.

Quinta do Noval sold to French firm

AXA purchased the fine Port house for approximately $15 million after almost two years of negotiations. AXA owns other fine wineries and is interested in continuing and will probably retain Quinta do Noval winemaker Cristiano van Zeller.
