Coppola purchased the Inglenook winery for $10 million from Heublein, which adds to the 1,600 acres of the original Inglenook Estate he already owns and gives him the entire original property. Coppola plans to invest another $10 million to renovate the 39,00-square-foot stone winery.

The film director and vintner announced that he will pay over $9 million for the estate in the Rutherford district. Coppola has long desired the property, which includes 80 acres of vineyards. Heublein has owned the winery since 1969.

Silverado plants Italian varieties

Silverado paid $800,000 for 60 acres of vineyard land in Napa's Soda Canyon. The winery will plant Sangiovese and Zinfandel grapes for winemaking and will also dedicate an area to 4,000 olive trees for the production of olive oil.
