The magnificent 30: MacPhail
Article Abstract:
James MacPhail uses purchased grapes from vineyards in Sonoma, Mendocino and Anderson Valley, although he aims to become more site-specific because he believes Pinot Noir is a varietal that shows its truest self by location. The wines are ripe and rich and his label's third vintage, 2004, gives reason to believe MacPhail is beginning to establish a name.
