The top 40 white wines as selected for the 1998 Wine Spectator list of the best wines vary greatly in price and vintner. All the wines listed received a score of at least 90 points out of 100 available. The $85 Domaine LaRoche Chablis Les Clos received the highest rating, with 99 points. The majority of wines selected were made in either France or California.
