The root and uses of 'conspiracy theory' is traced from 1945. The term 'conspiracy' is older than Shakespeare. 'Tortious interference' is traced from the root word 'tort' and not to be confused with tortuous. Retronyms are word updates, such as 'shell eggs' to distinguish from artificial eggs.
