Breakthroughs in supplier partnerships: profiting from win-win relationships
Article Abstract:
Manufacturers are finding it more and more essential to enhance supplier partnerships because of the changing business environment. The two primary causes of the increasing pressure on manufacturers are: product life cycles have been drastically reduced and giant retail companies have totally altered the way in which supply chains function. Large retailers have control on what they will pay manufacturers, charge manufacturers for strategic locations in the store and demand that manufacturers manage their warehouse inventories.

Testing a model of long-term alliance success
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the factors which are necessary for having a successful strategic alliance between buyer and supplier. Alliance practice in the grocery, and health and personal care industries in North America. The research was focused on the alliances between manufacturers and their material suppliers. Findings showed the importance of strong cohesion between the partners.

Manufacturers should be able to come up with accurate and timely forecasts of the nature of customer demands to lessen inventories and improve the flow of production. This is achieved through communication with Sales and Marketing personnel, who are the closest to the customers, and the customers themselves.
