Contract management behavioral health programs: are hospitals satisfied with their performance?
Article Abstract:
Contract management providers of psychiatric, chemical dependency and other behavioral health programs to hospitals were evaluated on the basis of key performance characteristics. Hospitals were surveyed concerning the importance of bed utilization, contract management fees, marketing support, net income, staffing ratio and staff turnover. The factor that received the largest number of positive responses, 70%, was staffing ratio. Staff turnover and market support also received more than a 50% positive response. Information gathered from this study can be used to develop more satisfactory contract negotiation strategies.
