Nutritutional supplements in the treatment of pressure ulcers: practical perspectives

Nutritutional supplements can be helpful in healing pressure ulcers, especially if patients are malnourished. A variety of products are available as oral liquids, snacks or powders. The amount and type of supplement needed will vary with the severity of the ulcer or type of malnutrition. The content of products spans a range, such as from high nutrition to very high nutrition to very high protein.

Why wound care certification?
Article Abstract:
Nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel can become board certified in wound management. Certification programs should be interdisciplinary, identify essential knowledge, and raise ethical standards. Certification programs must be free of discrimination and contain standardized documentation requirements. The American Academy of Wound Management's ethics code is also described.
