Rapid tests for HIV infection

Article Abstract:

Clinical testing shows that the two rapid tests for detecting HIV-1 antibodies, OraQuick and Reveal, are more than 99% sensitive and performed with a single visit of the patient. Oraquick is simpler between the two and has been considered suitable by the US government for use on a larger scale. HIV-1 antibody positive results need a confirmatory Wester blot or indirect immunofluorescence assay in both cases.
