Manufacturing practices and competitive ability: an Australian study
Article Abstract:
A survey of Australian manufacturing companies reveals that there are few differences in the practices of the most and the least successful companies. Results suggest that competitive ability is derived not from the use of specific strategies or technologies, but from the manner in which these were applied to improve a company's competitive position. A comparison of the survey results with those of a similar study of Canadian manufacturing companies shows that success was linked to correct and timely implementation of competitive strategy in both countries.
