Article Abstract:
The Daily Delta and the Picayune, both New Orleans, LA newspapers had their reporters send dispatches on the Mexican-American war by way of horse-riding couriers and steamers. An envelop has been discovered which contained a letter sent along with the news dispatches. Other anecdotes are related.

A prisoner of General Morgan's Riders
Article Abstract:
Morgan and his 2,400-man party rode from Kentucky to Ohio in a 24-day 1,000 mile raid. He was caught with 384 men Jul 26, 1864. The letter and envelope is from a grandfather written just three days after Morgan's capture. The cover has a cancelled three-cent stamp postmarked from Zanesvile, OH.
