Article Abstract:
Letter writing was common before the invention of such as the telephone. The topical discussions, interests and pastimes of the past can often graphically be found in the letters in old envelopes. Eyewitness accounts are especially rewarding to find. A brief discussion of coins is also given.

The first stampless cover dealer
Article Abstract:
In 1924, Eaton advertised that he exclusively handled stampless covers. These items had been largely ignored by collectors. The postal marking on these covers were what collectors eventually would be seeking. The struggle to gain recognition and popularity for stampless covers is recounted.

Stamp collectors did not begin collecting stampless covers until the mid-1920s, long after stamp collecting had originated. Stamp cover collection became popular after that, and it is rare to find older covers and stampless covers.
