Article Abstract:
An ancient carving of a Minoan goddess found in the ruins of Knossos in Crete was recreated using a variety of gemstones and gold. The seven-foot figurine stands bare-breasted with two snakes in her outstretched arms. Opal, garnet, obsidian, lapis lazuli and various others gems compose the artwork.

Gemologist Arthur Anderson has created a statuette made of turquoise, lapis lazuli and obsidian. The figure represents a priestess of the ancient Minoan civilization, a character that Anderson is planning to recreate in several versions.
