Industry works to smooth tough times for blinds
Article Abstract:
The Window Coverings Safety Council is working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to reduce the risk of child strangulation, by mandating split cords on all new products, and by encouraging single-wand controls, break-away tassels, floor-mounting systems, and break-away fixtures. The industry is also establishing no-lead, PVC glossy vinyl standard for blinds, to eliminate the risk of lead poisoning from deterioration of the paint on some imported mini-blinds.
