Neutra's comeback
Article Abstract:
Vienna-born designer Richard J. Neutra created various furnitures for his houses. His furniture were not produced in commercial quantities. Today, the Italian company Prospective produces his furnitures in the US using nontoxic foam for upholstery and stainless steel instead of chrome plated steel.

Michael Kalil designed a space habitat for NASA without floors or tables. He designed earthbound interiors which were just as unconventional. A minimalist apartment Kalil worked on for ten years has light and water coming from unseen sources and a tower meditation room.

Los Angeles, CA, decorator Barbara Barry designed the interiors of a beach house planned by Canadian architect Arthur Erickson. Barry's minimalist treatment of Erickson's functional steel-and-glass structure breathes new life to the Miesian precept of less is more.
