Sleepy's, Barewood select GERS for store automation

GERS Retail System's Sequel System has been chosen by both Sleepy's of Bethpage, NY, and Tampa, FL-based Barewood Outlet for their store automation systems. Sleepy's, the 150-outlet bedding specialty retailer that posted $111 million in sales in 1997, also bought GERS' Sequel Flash, along with the firm's modules for credit card authorization, point-of-sale and customer service. Barewood Outlet, the eight-year-old, natural-wood furniture marketer, added batch bar coding and modules for third-party credit and credit card authorization interface to its equipment purchase.

Marks to lead Badcock
Article Abstract:
W.S. Badcock has appointed Don Marks as president of its 350-unit Southwest retail chain operations which were usually controlled by a member of the Badcock family. Marks will be replacing former president Ben Badcock because of his ability to work alongside and for the Badcock family. W.S. Badcock will now be able to concentrate on expansion and positioning efforts after searching for a new leader for 10 months. Meanwhile, Ben Badcock credited Marks with an ability to provide a unique perspective to the firm.
