HSC decries drop in local authority inspections
Article Abstract:
Health and Safety Commission (HSC) observes the reduction in local authority inspections due to a recruitment crisis in local government and also because of the trend to reduce the priority given to health and safety enforcement. The role of local authorities is reviewed and the increased potential for health and safety enforcement from local government is removed by the HSC and delivered centrally.

DTI cash for work-life balance
Article Abstract:
Funding of work-life balance initiatives from the DTI Partnership Fund is reported. Some of the projects receiving support from the fund such as a project involving Lancashire County Council, the National Association of Headteachers, a project between Fife Council and UNISON, and others are listed.
