Health benefit costs may climb in 1997
Article Abstract:
Health care costs for public and private employees rose by 2.5% in 1996 to $3,915 from $3,821 in 1995. In 1995, there was a 2.1% increase in costs, while in 1994, costs rose by 1.1%. Low inflation rate and with more employees enrolled in managed care plans helped in bringing costs to still reasonable levels. However, the cost of medical care is expected to rise during the next few years as membership in managed care plans reach a plateau and as most of the HMOs increase their rates.

Wrongful termination: consider the costs
Article Abstract:
Wrongful termination is discussed including the costs to a company and ways to avoid problems. Court case examples are included that show damages incurred in an atmosphere that has little methodology supporting what is a wrongful termination and how much should be awarded if a case is proven against a firm. Ways to help protect a company against such litigation would include the use of an objective third party and or the use of outside or in-house counsel.

Article Abstract:
The control of health care costs has become a primary concern of corporations in their plans for health care administration. The US Dept of Health and Human Services has decided to change its mode of communications from paper to an electronic system as a cost minimization program.
