Is it illegal to involve employees in pay design?
Article Abstract:
A December 1992 National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) decision raises significant questions about the extent to which union employers can involve their employees in participative management of compensation initiatives. In the case of Electromation Inc.'s five committees, the NLRB found unlawful domination of the committees by management under provisions of the Wagner Act. A committee may be seen as a union according to statute if if it is not officially organized as a union.

Court upholds managed-care plan design
Article Abstract:
Employers may design managed-care plans with penalties to encourage plan holders to conform with its rules. However, employers have limits in administrating these plans. The law also provides that plan sponsors are obliged to inform their plan participants of their right to amend plan designs, fiduciary standards in plan administrationand other rights and obligations covered by the contract.
