A wider Europe: the view from Moscow and Kyiv

Article Abstract:

Russia's and the European Union's attitudes towards NATO and the European Union (EU) are compared and contrasted. The Russian sense of exclusion from the international community has resulted from NATO expansion and has been worsened by the air strikes against Serbia, while the Ukrainian sense has been caused mainly by disappointment at the difficulties of attaining EU membership.

Shared sovereignty and the politics of peace: Evaluating the EU's 'catalytic' framework in the eastern Mediterranean

Article Abstract:

The local and regional actors that have responded to the catalytic effects of EU accession for Cyprus, and its broader implications are examined. The EU framework led to the Cyprus problem becoming a catalyst for Turkish accession, which offers the opportunity for the international community to accept the political and interventionary nature of the peace they prescribe.

Confusion at home, confusion abroad: Turkey between Copenhagen and Iraq

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates Turkey's foreign and domestic political situation. The author, maintaining only 5 months ago things were looking optimistic for Turkey, argues it is now in a state of disarray due to poor leadership, too complex of a foreign policy, an unstable economy, and war at its borders.
