NAFTA: the institutionalization of economic openness and the configuration of Mexican geo-economic spaces
Article Abstract:
This article discusses Mexico's growth and industry orientated policies' shift from public policy concerns to market-driven ones since the implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and the manner in which economic openness and the empowerment of the market has created a new regionalization of the country's core economic activities. The author suggest that the core of NAFTA for the Mexicans encompasses the cross-border territoriality of California and Texas and central Mexican states, changing the economic territoriality of the country, with negative consequence for southern Mexican states.

Article Abstract:

Although US policy towards the Argentine debt default and restructuring contrasted sharply with the Bush administration's aggressive broader foreign policy since September 2001, it reflects familiar influences of strategic goals and neoliberal ideology.
