Attempting developmental regionalism through AFTA: the domestic sources of regional governance
Article Abstract:
The Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) was portrayed as a project of open regionalism, adopted by Asean member governments to attract foreign direct investment to the region. The idea of developmental regionalism, as a way to incorporate domestic-owned capital in analyzing the globalisation-regionalism relationship is advanced upon.

Regionalist governance in the new political economy of development: 'relaunching' the Mercosur
Article Abstract:
This article examines globalization in Brazil and the influence it has had on creating regional governments. The author maintains Brazil has shifted governance towards regionalism as a way to achieve a competitive edge in the globalization process, and has decided to expand the common market treaty, Mercosur.

The rise and fall of open regionalism? Comparative reflections on regional governance in the Southern Cone of Latin America
Article Abstract:
An argument that the original model of open regionalism supporting the Mercosur is petering out and the regional governance project in Southern Cone is undergoing redefinition is presented. Specifically, it highlights the limitations of understanding regionalism merely as a reflection of domestic processes.
