Democracy and peace: a more skeptical view
Article Abstract:
Some post-Cod War scholars contend that democracy connotes peace (DP) and that democratic nations tend to avoid war against one another. However, this argument lacks a solid foundation. DP oversimplifies the correlation between democracy and peace and is backed up by insufficient information. DP research also suffers from design flaws. For these reasons, DP scholars should undertake more research into the relationship between democracy and peace. Four areas for further investigation are suggested.
