Illiberal democracy and the future of opposition in Singapore
Article Abstract:
Singapore's opposition parties may be able to establish a civil society if they can utilize probable future events such as a long economic downturn and the rise of an information-technology generation. The government of the 1990s sees Western liberal democracy as a threat to political stability and economic growth.

Unregulated, illegal and unreported fishing of the Patagonian toothfish demonstrates the attempts of intergovernmental organizations to manage living resources. Special interest groups and other bodies oppose such regulation, so the controversy helps develop analysis of governance across large territories.
