Iran and North Korea: The proliferation nexus

Article Abstract:

The proliferation connections between North Korea and Iran in terms of technical assistance and potential policy coordination poses as a threat due to the nuclear and missile programmes at the center of each country's security strategy. America should be willing to engage with its European allies on a strategy to lure Iran and North Korea with a full range of incentives to bring them into the negotiation process if ever they are to be nuclear weapons free and also there should be greater consistency to American policies.

Assessing Iran's nuclear programme

Article Abstract:

Several instances of military involvement in Iran's nuclear program suggest that Iran may be aiming for more than a latent nuclear-weapons capability, and may be making efforts to produce nuclear weapons between 2008 and 2010. Diplomatic initiatives must be taken to oppose Iran's nuclear-weapons capability, based on concerns about terrorist acquisition of these weapons, a shift of the regional balance of power and world oil supply.

Can Iran's nuclear capability be kept latent?

Article Abstract:

The decision of Iran to produce nuclear weapons or the current speed of its programme is not clear, but it is certain that Iran seeks a latent nuclear-weapons capability. The date by which Tehran could produce a nuclear weapon if it chooses to do so seems to be postponed due to the intensity of inspections and sharp international attention on it.
