Legitimacy dilemmas: The IMF's pursuit of country ownership
Article Abstract:
A study examining the challenges faced by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to its legitimacy as an international institution and the response provided by them is illustrated. The IMF has responded to the challenges by revising its conditionality guidelines and pursuing greater domestic ownership over the reforms that it requires thus changing its relationship with borrowing countries.
