This article provides a comparative analysis of Latin American rural violence, focusing on the relationship between social-political violence and state policy and agrarian structure. The author suggests that rural conflicts are related to efforts at agrarian reform, and compares countries which have undergone reform with those which have not; further comparative studies in this field are recommended.
