Will the 'global war on terrorism' be the new Cold War?
Article Abstract:
The Bush administration is trying to coax itself and everyone else that the 'global war on terrorism' (GWoT) will be a 'long war' requiring sustained mobilization against an implacabale foe. If it takes root the GWoT could indeed become a durable, dominant, unifying idea that would enable Washington to reassert and legitimize both its special claims as the sole superpower. However looking at the surrounding events and contexts that could support or undermine the elevation of the GWoT to the status of the new Cold War, it is argued that it is not that likely.

'International Community' after Iraq
Article Abstract:
The phrase "international community" implies a deep and strong sharing of identity, and in relation to the Iraq war, the most important meaning of it equates broadly with the west. The effect of the war on the western international community through its impact on NATO, the EU, the UN, the WTO and the public opinion is also discussed.
