Diversity of work force should be a top priority
Article Abstract:
Most partners in US law firms are white men, which makes the trend towards diversification some are undertaking most welcome. Groups which should be considered in making the firm more diverse include not only the traditional ones such as race and gender but also such factors as different personalities, social classes, and military backgrounds. Implementing diversification will take a long time and proceeds in several stages: implementing affirmative action policies, valuing and managing diversity and establishing 'leadership diversity.'

Telecommuting raises liability and tax concerns; firms should anticipate legal, business issues when lawyers work outside the office
Article Abstract:
Law firms making it possible for lawyers to telecommute should have detailed telecommuting policies signed by each lawyer using this arrangement and standards for deciding on the telecommuter's salary and benefits should be the same as in-house lawyers. Software companies will advise on whether equipment used by telecommuters will need separate licenses. Home offices should have insurance for third-party claims arising from business use of the residence.
