Article Abstract:
A survey was conducted to determine the respect and position of business ethics as a field of study within schools of business administration. Of the 379 surveys mailed only 146 were deemed as legitimate responses and eventually fed into the database. Findings indicated that an authentic interest in business ethics and social responsibility exists among academicians. The early responses to they survey were prompt but extremely negative. Later responses were more temperate and balanced.

From social irresponsibility to social responsiveness: the Chrysler/Kenosha plant closing
Article Abstract:
Chrysler Corp's decision to close its plant in Kenosha, WI, in 1998 led to social pressure that finally resulted in more than $200 million in contributions by the company to help the city and its inhabitants cope with the loss of a major employer. The turnaround by the company from a perceived initial disregard of its actions and the consequences arising from it is described as a move from social irresponsibility to a socially responsive action.
