Human rights reporting: beyond body counts and statistics
Article Abstract:
Alan Berlow wrote a book entitled 'Dead Season: A Story of Murder and Revenge on the Philippine Island of Negros', an investigation into a series of murders in Mambagaton, Negros, Philippines. The book investigated interrelated stories of murder and revenge and portrayed a situation when human rights violations were committed with impunity. It exposes the inner workings of a system that prevents justice for victims of the most heinous crimes especially if the victims are poor.
