BICC in a rights tangle
Article Abstract:
BICC has restructured and plans to invest in higher-margin cable and contracting operations. The company aims to increase optical fiber production and is expanding its activities in Asia Pacific, including an investment in a new plant in Subic Bay in the Philippines. There is no certainty that the areas the company aims to expand, like data cables and optical cable, will continue to provide large margins. The group's pre-exceptional profit is forecast at 136 million pounds sterling for 1996.

Localized market power in the U.S. airline industry
Article Abstract:
An analysis describing the impact of single carriers on city-pair markets and airports in the US is presented. It is shown that airlines with major market share can dictate prices on airports. However, this dominance is not extended to airport routes. In addition, both route and airport concentration exhibit a positive correlation with price. Results imply the importance of equal access to sunk airport facilities.
