On the sensitivity of optimal growth paths

Article Abstract:

There is a strong link between the discount factor and the divergence of two varying optimal paths in a standard model of optimal economic growth theory. In the case of stationary optimal growth paths, research shows that the absolute value of the discount factor's inverse value cannot be surpassed by the eigenvalues of the Jacobian of the optimal policy function. The findings did not take into account the presence of differentiability on the short-run utility function.
