Unemployment benefits and labor market transitions: a multinomial logit model with errors in classification
Article Abstract:
The impact of classification error on microeconomic analyses of labor market trends is analyzed in a multinomial logit model. Classification or response errors are significant factors in sample surveys. Data from the Current Population Survey for May and June 1976 were analyzed, with special attention given to the errors in the classification of 'unemployed' and 'not in the labor force.' The multinomial logit model is used to develop a procedure to analyze the probability of classification errors.

The effect of child care costs on married women's labor force participation
Article Abstract:
The influence of child care expenses on the entrance of married women with young children into the labor force is studied. A generalized tobit model and a structural probit model are used to measure costs and participation. Results show that the likelihood of participation decreases with higher child care costs.
