Ways of seeing the Intifada: the case of Nahalin
Article Abstract:
The reporting of the Nahalin incident, a major Intifada uprising, in the Western media is an example of biased representation of violence, death, and cultural alienation in Third World countries. Most television networks, including CNN, ABC and NBC, portrayed the Palestinians involved in the Intifada as strangers to Western spectators. This impersonal style of reporting is due to an unrealistic and imagined perception of Third World problems by Western media.
