At issue: does athletic competition in the U.S. go too far?
Article Abstract:
Competition has been found to destroy self-esteem, cause tension, affect relationships and encourage unfair play tactics. Most people consider it a means of proving dominance or the ability to overcome opponents in pursuing a goal, which is winning. In such cases, competition loses its wholesomeness and fun. On the other hand, despite these negative aspects, people should try to understand other underlying principles involved. Children must, therefore, be taught that competition is not so much winning at all costs, but a fair, challenging and enjoyable activity where winning simply means competence rather than dominance.

At issue: can alternative medicine coexist with conventional medicine?
Article Abstract:
Alternative medicine and conventional medicine practitioners should work together to come up with a unified and effective approach to disease prevention and treatment. The combined efforts of scientific and unscientific methods could bridge the gap between the two disciplines and eventually provide ways in which patients could incorporate both approaches into their medical-care decisions.
