The banking industry should prepare themselves for possible sudden downturn in the stock market, according to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan. The risk of big loan losses is tremendous if sky-high stock prices collapsed, Greenspan added. His speech to bank regulators at a conference in Washington echoed the comments he said during a Fed conference in Jackson Hole, WY, in Aug 1999.
