Saving Social Security
Article Abstract:
American baby boomers entering their retirement years pose a great threat to the Social Security system. The government has the options of rising the retirement age, increase payroll taxes, or cutting benefits. Since President Bill Clinton's call for open discussions on Social Security, many lawmakers have embraced the idea of privatizing the system, but agreeing on how to accomplish this has proved to be more difficult.

Should the federal government continue to subsidize beach-replenishment efforts?
Article Abstract:
While government subsidies in beach erosion control and management are returned in revenue generated by tourism, commerce and tax few coastal areas are suited to development. Even though coastal areas are not stable landforms and are continually subject to nature's most dramatic and destructive forces, man will continue to drawn to the area for economic, recreational and spiritual reasons.
