Drabinsky takes aim at KPMG employee
Article Abstract:
Livent Inc.'s ousted chairman, Garth Drabinsky, has asked the Ontario Court to put an end to KPMG's investigation into alleged accounting discrepancies at Livent that KPMG figures out as involving millions of dollars. Drabinsky, who launched a C$26-million lawsuit against KPMG, filed a supplementary affidavit to counter KPMG tax partner Shelley Levine's assertion that she was involved merely on Drabinsky's personal taxes and did not take part in any business matters related to Livent. Drabinsky's application for injunction, which is scheduled to be heard on Oct. 5, 1998, contends KPMG should be prevented from conducting such investigation because conflict is present due to fact that the company served as Livent's forensic auditor and at the same time acted as his personal accountant over the last 20 years.
