FAA to investigate Boeing's recent manufacturing mishaps
Article Abstract:
The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct a special 3-month evaluation of commercial jet-maker Boeing Co's manufacturing process starting Dec 2, 1999. The review has been prompted by Boeing's report of four quality-control problems that may point to a more serious problem. These include the discovery of two improperly tightened bolts in the tail fin of a Boeing 767, failure of cockpit drip shields and fiberglass ducts to meet flammability standards, and fuel tank access doors that were weakened by an anti-corrosion treatment.
