Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union national president Buzz Hargrove made it clear at the Jun 1996 CAW bargaining convention that he is willing to initiate a strike. The action may help to sustain the power of the union and its leaders to the detriment of the autoworkers and the Ontario economy.

The 750-member Regina Chamber of Commerce is representative of the approximately 500 other chamber of commerces in Canada. Although federal authorities are pushing global trade, the Regina Chamber of Commerce is more concerned with local issues such as taxes and air services.
