Gulf Canada's heavy-oil plan assailed
Article Abstract:
Gulf Canada Resources Ltd's C$1.1 billion Surmont heavy-oil project in Alberta was criticized by natural gas producers as detrimental to their existence. They also blasted Gulf Canada for asking the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board to order the closure of 183 gas wells in the Surmont area, saying such expropriation of property is illegal. Gulf Canada wants the wells to be closed because the wells are fast depleting pressure levels.
