Indecent disclosures

Article Abstract:

The Australian law, Listing Rule 3.1, that requires companies to publicly disclose information that may explain why their stock prices have suddenly and significantly changed has been inadequate. A clause in the law protects companies from disclosing any confidential information. Consequently, stock prices have risen sharply immediately before companies announce significant business deals but the companies do not have to disclose any information after the change in stock price because the information is, according to them, a confidential matter.
