Most pregnant women in Australia have few options when considering how they would like to give birth. Labour wards are generally traditional, and there is limited access to more progressive birth centres. Choice is set to be further restricted by the decision by Guild Insurance to no longer insure independent midwives.

An evaluation is presented of television and the integral role which it represents in the everyday life of the family. It is proposed that television has a real purpose and a valuable place in life, although people are made to feel guilty in taking pleasure from it.
