Legacy of shame: Japanese-Canadians became 'enemy aliens' in their own land
Article Abstract:
Twenty-two thousand Japanese Canadians were designated as enemy aliens in 1942 and evacuated from British Columbia even though the Royal Canadian Mounted Police discounted the threat they posed. Survivors of the relocation were granted $21,000 in compensation in 1988.
