Mental illness: should the mentally ill get more health-care benefits?

Article Abstract:

Bill Clinton's promise to reform the health-care system has led to hopes of better benefits for the mentally ill. Mental health professionals see reform as a chance to get mental illness the same insurance coverage that physical illness receives. Debate over the coverage of 5 million Americans who suffer some form of severe mental illness has resulted in little unity on the topics of what should be covered and who should pay the bill. Recent advances in medicine and treatment have made it much more likely that mentally ill patients can overcome their problems. Homelessness, neglect, mental institutions and public opinion are all discussed.

Feminism's future: is the women's movement growing or losing power?

Article Abstract:

The women's movement in the US is undergoing renewed attacks from groups of conservative men and women, but feminist leaders foresee and intend a strong future. For example, women voters swung the election of Pres Bill Clinton by an 11% gender gap at the polls. While about 3/4 of the public approve of a 'women's movement', division occurs within the movement on issues such as abortion and homemaking. In fact, the label of 'feminist' is disputed by conservatives, while others fear negative connotations from it.
